The Rajasthan High Court stands as an emblem of justice and legal prowess in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
It was established on 29^th August 1949 under Rajasthan High Court Ordinance, 1949.
With its establishment, the Rajasthan High Court assumed the responsibility of adjudicating over a wide array of civil, criminal, and constitutional matters, ensuring the fair administration of justice across the region.
Over the years, it has evolved into a bastion of legal expertise, upholding the principles of justice, equality, and integrity.

Origins in Princely States:
- Rajasthan High Court's roots trace back to the amalgamation of princely states, forming the state of Rajasthan, after India gained independence.
Integration Process:
- Following independence, efforts were made to integrate smaller states into larger administrative units, laying the groundwork for present-day Rajasthan.
Establishment of Rajasthan:
- Rajasthan as a state was formed between 1948 and 1950, integrating 19 princely states, with Jaipur as its capital.
Inauguration of High Court:
- The Rajasthan High Court was inaugurated on 29th August 1949, first at Jodhpur, with subsequent provisions for multiple sitting locations.

Constitutional Changes:
- Post the enforcement of the Indian Constitution in 1950, Rajasthan became a Part "B" state, leading to alterations in the structure and functioning of the high court.
Reorganisation Act, 1956:
- The States Reorganisation Act, 1956, led to significant changes, including the establishment of a singular High Court for Rajasthan.

Principal Seat:
- Initially established at Jodhpur, the principal seat was later affirmed by the government, despite considerations for relocation.
Regional Benches:
- Temporary benches were established at various locations, with Jaipur gaining a permanent bench in 1976, addressing demands for regional representation.
Infrastructure Development:
- Presently, the Rajasthan High Court operates with a sanctioned strength of 50 judges and is undergoing infrastructure enhancements, with new buildings constructed at both Jaipur and Jodhpur.
