Who is Justice Aniruddha Bose?
- Aniruddha Bose, born on 11th April 1959, serves as a justice in the Supreme Court of India. Following his enrollment, he commenced his legal practice focusing on constitutional, civil, and intellectual property issues at the Calcutta High Court in 1985.
How was the Career Journey of Justice Aniruddha Bose?
- Justice Aniruddha Bose completed his Higher Secondary Examination at St. Lawrence High School in Kolkata before pursuing a degree in Commerce from St. Xavier's College in Kolkata.
- He obtained his LL.B. from Surendranath Law College. Beginning his legal career in 1985, he commenced practice in Constitutional, Civil, and Intellectual Property law matters at the Calcutta High Court.
- Over time, he gained experience in both the Original Side and the Appellate Side of the High Court.
- In January 2004, he was appointed as a permanent Judge of the Calcutta High Court. Later, on 11th August 2018, he was appointed as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.
- Subsequently, on 24th May 2019, he was elevated to the position of Judge of the Supreme Court of India.

- Union of India v. K. V. Thulasiamma (2010):
- Justice Aniruddha Bose held the eligibility of regularized person in job to get benefits of regular service from the date of him appointed on ad-hoc basis.
- Animal Welfare Board v Union of India (2023):
- The bench consisting of Justice Aniruddha Bose upheld the validity of the Tamil Nadu Amendment Act, 1960 relating to bovine sports, finding it aligned with Entry 17 of List III.
- It declined jurisdiction to evaluate cultural significance, deferring to legislative discretion.
- The Act, along with rules, was deemed lawful, guiding similar legislation in Maharashtra and Karnataka. Strict enforcement was mandated.
- Nara Chandrababu Naidu v. State of Andhra Pradesh & Anr. (2023):
- Justice Aniruddha Bose was part of the bench where Supreme Court gave split verdict upon Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act,1988 and referred the matter to Chief Justice of India.
