The Uttar Pradesh Assistant Prosecution Officer (APO) exam is a competitive examination conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) to recruit candidates for the position of Assistant Prosecution Officer in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Exam Pattern & Syllabus 

Preliminary Examination 

  • Total Questions: 150 
  • Duration: 2 hours 
  • Maximum Marks: 150
  • Negative Marking: One third of the marks assigned to that question 
  • Part - I: General Knowledge (Total 50 Questions) 
    • This section will focus on current events and general awareness both in India and worldwide. The key areas include: 
      • General Science – 8 Questions 
      • Current Affairs of National and International Importance – 10 Questions 
      • History of India – 8 Questions 
      • Indian National Movement – 8 Questions 
      • Indian Polity & Economy – 8 Questions 
      • World Geography and Population – 8 Questions 
      • Candidates should have a general awareness of these topics. 
  • Part - II: Law (Total 100 Questions) 
    • This section will assess knowledge in various legal areas, with questions distributed as follows: 
      • Indian Penal Code, 1860 (IPC) – 35 Questions 
      • Indian Evidence Act, 1872 – 25 Questions 
      • Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 (CrPC) – 25 Questions 
      • U.P. Police Act and Related Regulations – 15 Questions

Mains Examination 

  • Written Examination (Total Marks: 400) 
    • Each paper will have a duration of 3 hours. 
      • General Knowledge – 100 Marks 
      • General Hindi – 100 Marks (The question paper will be at the High School level.) 
      • Criminal Law & Procedure – 100 Marks (This will cover the Police Act and regulations, based on the Law Degree standard.) 
      • Law of Evidence – 100 Marks (This paper will include both direct and applied questions at the Law Degree level.) 
  • Personality Test (Total Marks: 50) 
    • The candidate’s suitability will be evaluated based on their capacity, character, personality, and physical fitness. 
    • The marks earned in the written test will be combined with those obtained in the Personality Test to determine the candidate's overall ranking.

  • Candidates need to fill out the application form and pay the application fee accordingly.
