Introduction
- The Haryana Judicial Services Examination is officially Haryana Civil Judge Junior Division Exam.
- This exam is co by the Haryana High Court for recruitment of the Civil Judge Junior Division or Judicial Magistrate posts in the cadre of Haryana Civil Service through Haryana Public Service Commission (PSC).
Eligibility
- The Haryana PSC Judicial Services Eligibility Criteria 2023 states that all the aspiring candidates must possess a degree of Bachelor of Laws from a University established by the law and recognized by the Bar Council of India.
- The degree entitles a candidate to be enrolled as an Advocate under the Advocate Act, 1961, and the rules made there under.

Note: The candidate must hold a degree of Bachelor of Law on the last date of receipt of the application form. |
- Candidates must be citizens of India and must provide the required documents as a proof for the same.
- Candidates should not be less than 21 years and not more than 42 years.
- The upper limit is relaxed for following reserved category candidates:

Scheme and Syllabus for the Examination
Prelims
- The prelims exam shall be of objective type with multiple-choice questions.
- The question paper of the preliminary examination consists of 125 questions, each with four marks.
- The marking scheme of the Prelim's exam is that each question carries four marks, and for each wrong answer, you get a -0.8 mark.
- The syllabus includes questions about current events, Indian legal history, constitutional evolution, and statutes outlined in Civil Law-I, Civil Law-II, and Criminal Law specified for the Mains Examination.
Mains
- The Mains exam will consist of written papers with descriptive or narrative / essay-type questions.
- Each of the Mains written exams is of 3 hours duration.
As per the Haryana Judiciary Exam Pattern, the Mains Haryana Judiciary Syllabus 2023 comprises five subjects:
- Civil Law 1
- Civil Law 2
- Criminal Law
- English paper
- Language

Interview (200 Marks)
- For a candidate to be qualified for viva-voce, they must secure a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in all the written examinations in Mains.
- However, for the candidate belonging to the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, Physically Handicapped, and Ex-Serviceman (ESM) candidates only (but not dependents of ESM), a minimum of 45% aggregate marks should be obtained for qualification.
- The interview will be conducted only in English.
- The interview is conducted to judge the personal qualities of the candidate.
- The interview will relate to matters of general interest and will test the candidate's alertness, intelligence, and general outlook.
- It is mandatory to appear for viva-voce/interview to be considered for the final selection.
