Introduction 

The Rajasthan Assistant Prosecution Officer (APO) Examination is conducted by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) to recruit candidates for the post of Assistant Prosecution Officer in the state's prosecution department. The selection process consists of a Preliminary Examination, a Mains Examination, and an Interview.

Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates must fulfil the following eligibility conditions before applying for the RPSC APO Notification 2026: 

Nationality: 

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India. 

Age Limit: 

  • General category candidates: 21 to 40 years (as on January 01, 2027). 
  • Candidates must not have been born after January 01, 2006, or before January 02, 1987. 
  • Age relaxation for reserved categories is applicable as per government rules. 

Educational Qualification: 

  • Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognised university.

Preliminary Examination 

Pattern: 

  • Total Questions: Approximately 100 (Part A: Law – 70 questions; Part B: General Hindi and English – 30 questions, roughly 15 each) 
  • Total Marks: 100 
  • Time Duration: 2 hours (combined for both parts) 
  • Marking Scheme: 1 mark per correct answer; 1/3rd mark deducted for each wrong answer 
  • The question paper is divided into two parts — Part A (Law) and Part B (Language Proficiency: General Hindi and General English)

  • Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 
  • Rajasthan Excise Act, 1950 
  • POCSO Act, 2012 
  • Rajasthan Public Examination Act, 1992 
  • Probation of Offenders Act, 1958 
  • General Hindi – Vocabulary, Grammar (gender, number, tense), Sentence Correction, Synonyms, Antonyms, Translation 
  • General English – Tenses, Active and Passive Voice, Narration, Modals, Prepositions, Determiners, One-word Substitution, Comprehension

Mains Examination 

Pattern: 

  • Paper I (Law): 150 marks, 3 hours, descriptive type 
  • Paper II (General Hindi and English): 50 marks, 2 hours, descriptive type 
  • Total Mains Marks: 200 
  • No candidate is called for interview unless they qualify both the Preliminary and Mains stages as per the cut-offs prescribed by RPSC

  • Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (BSA) 
  • Special and State Laws – SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Arms Act, Rajasthan Excise Act, POCSO Act, Juvenile Justice Act, Probation of Offenders Act, Rajasthan Public Examination Act, Rajasthan Recruitment Exam Act, Prevention of Corruption Act, and other laws relevant to the post

Paper II – General Hindi and English 

  • Hindi – Advanced grammar, comprehension, précis writing, sentence correction, official correspondence (notifications, press releases, semi-official letters, circulars), idioms and proverbs 
  • English – Grammar, comprehension of unseen passages, letter and report writing, notice writing, translation, vocabulary-based questions

Interview 

  • Marks Allotted: 25 
  • Candidates who qualify the Mains Examination as per the prescribed cut-off are called for the Interview 
  • The final merit list is prepared by combining marks obtained in the Mains Examination and the Interview
